STLF-NA-TRD-REQ-3920 System shall provide, for example for packet voice carriers, a way to add
new SIP services by adding capabilities to the SIP Proxy Server, to allow it to
“handshake” with an H.323 gatekeeper using the H.323 RAS protocol. This
way, these customers could use their existing voice-gateway infrastructure to
support additional SIP-based offerings.
By enabling a SIP proxy server to communicate with an H.323 gatekeeper
using RAS location request, location confirmation, and location reject
messages and responses, a SIP Proxy Server can obtain optimized routing
information from VoIP gateways that have been deployed in the service
provider’s network.
While the SIP Proxy Server could supply routing information to SIP gateways,
this scheme allows not only to use its existing routing structure on its H.323
gatekeepers, but to also take advantage of the H.323 RAI functionality for a
more efficient network. The SIP Proxy Server actually acts like another
gatekeeper to the H.323 network. This optimized routing structure pr

STLF-NA-TRD-REQ-3930 Provisions for communication between the SIP Proxy Server and H.323
gatekeepers, along with other features that allow SIP and H.323 to coexist on
a common network, should provide to system customers the ability to build
out hybrid networks that include both SIP and H.323 traffic. The adoption of
SIP will encourage the growth of new applications within these hybrid
networks.

STLF-NA-TRD-REQ-3950 The System MCUs shall support the following scenarios:
Tightly Coupled MC with multiple media servers.
Tightly Coupled MC with centralized signalling and distributed mixing
media.

STLF-NA-TRD-REQ-3955 It shall be possible to optimize termination of the MC service, when accessing
the PSTN/ ISDN, by not terminating a call necessarily in the subscriber’s
main RSGW, but by using a secondary RSGW belonging to the same VSN or
by using an external ITSP (if convenient for cost or any other reason).

STLF-NA-TRD-REQ-3960 There shall be signalling communications for call routing and users location
purposes between the H.323/SIP call servers of RSGWs belonging to the
same VSN.

STLF-NA-TRD-REQ-3961 Within the same VSN, a RCST shall be able to establish connections
simultaneously with more than one RSGW and vice versa.
